Modi Assam Visit is scheduled for December 20 and 21, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to unveil key projects that strengthen Assam’s infrastructure and industrial capacity. The visit underlines the Centre’s continued push for development in the Northeast.
On December 20, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Bamboo Orchids Terminal 2 at Guwahati Airport. The terminal reflects Assam’s cultural identity through its design, inspired by the Kopou flower and local bamboo elements. Built to manage 1.31 crore passengers every year, the new terminal is expected to improve air connectivity and support economic integration across the eight northeastern states.
On December 21, the Prime Minister will travel to Namrup in Dibrugarh district. He will lay the foundation stone for a new brownfield ammonia-urea complex with an investment of around ₹12,000 crore. The project will come up within the existing premises of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited. Officials see the project as a major step toward strengthening Assam’s industrial base and ensuring better fertilizer supply in Northeast and eastern India.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will also visit the BJP state headquarters in Guwahati. He will pay tribute to the martyrs of the Assam Movement at the Shaheed Smarak in West Boragaon. The visit carries strong developmental and symbolic significance.
