Mohali Immigration Consultant Suicide Case: FIR Against AIG, Four Others

Mohali police register FIR against AIG Gurjot Singh Kaler in immigration consultant Rajdeep Singh suicide case

A day after Mohali-based immigration consultant Rajdeep Singh allegedly died by suicide inside an HDFC Bank branch in Sector 68, the police have registered an FIR against Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Gurjot Singh Kaler, ASI Rishi Rana and three others on charges of criminal conspiracy and abetment to suicide.

Rajdeep Singh, 45, reportedly used his licensed revolver to end his life inside the bank. Those booked include Sunil Agarwal, a chartered accountant and property dealer; Rinku Krishna, a caterer; and Ferozepur resident Saina Arora.

According to the FIR filed by Rajdeep’s father Paramjeet Singh, the accused allegedly forced his son to visit the bank to secure a loan for repaying money they had invested in his immigration business. He further claimed his son was being harassed and threatened with false cases.

The complaint states that Rajdeep had returned ₹1.60 crore to AIG Kaler earlier this year. It is alleged that Kaler had also invested ₹2.4 crore with Rajdeep’s associate Sunil Agarwal and had obtained blank cheques. Rajdeep had invested over ₹2.46 crore in Agarwal’s property business and vouched for another ₹3.5 crore from a local resident. Partners Krishna and Arora allegedly owed him ₹40 lakh.

Police are investigating the case amid rising questions over financial dealings and alleged misuse of authority.
