Moscow shot down at least 46 drones heading toward the city between Monday evening and Tuesday, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said. The first drones were intercepted at around 7:30 p.m. Moscow time Monday, and the city’s defenses continued to operate through Tuesday afternoon.
Sobyanin reported no casualties but confirmed emergency services were responding to falling debris caused by the drone interceptions.
Russia’s Defense Ministry added that its forces shot down at least 69 drones from midnight Monday to Tuesday. On Monday alone, the ministry claimed to have downed 236 Ukrainian drones — the highest daily total since September 12 and the second-highest for August and September combined.
These numbers indicate a major Ukrainian drone operation targeting Moscow, though city officials emphasize that the defenses successfully prevented damage to lives and infrastructure.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, ensuring residents stay safe while responding to the debris. The ongoing interceptions highlight the scale and intensity of drone attacks in the ongoing conflict.
