MP Contract Vehicle Rules Get Tough

MP Contract Vehicle Rules have become stricter after the Madhya Pradesh government tightened norms for hired official vehicles. The Transport Department issued clear orders to all departments, corporations, and local bodies. From now on, no contract vehicle can operate without complete and valid legal documents.

Officials found that many hired vehicles ran with expired insurance, fitness certificates, and permits. These lapses created serious risks. When accidents happened, insurance companies often rejected claims. Victims and government offices then faced legal and financial trouble.

To stop this practice, the government made document checks mandatory before finalising any contract. Authorities must also ensure documents remain valid throughout the contract period. If papers expire, departments can immediately stop payments. They can also remove the vehicle from service.

The order also targets unsafe practices. Departments must not allow overloading during mineral or material transport. Every hired vehicle must pay applicable motor vehicle tax on time.

Transport officials said the decision will improve safety and accountability. It will also reduce disputes during accidents. Departments have received instructions to conduct regular monitoring.

The government believes strict enforcement will protect public money. It will also ensure safer travel for officials and staff. The new rules take effect immediately across Madhya Pradesh.
