Madhya Pradesh has announced a major overhaul of leave rules for government employees and officers. The Finance Department has notified the MP Civil Service Leave Rules 2025, which will take effect from January 1, 2026, impacting over 7 lakh employees. The new system brings significant changes in leave types, salary structure, and approval procedures.
One of the biggest changes is in Child Care Leave for women employees. Instead of receiving 100% salary for the full 730-day period, they will now get 100% pay for the first 365 days and 80% for the next 365 days.
Employees will receive 30 days of Earned Leave every year—15 days in each half-year. No employee will be allowed continuous leave exceeding five years, and final approval will rest with the designated authority.
Study Leave rules have also been revised. Employees can avail up to one year at a time and a maximum of 24 months during service, with all educational expenses to be borne by the employee. A bond is now mandatory.
Medical Leave rules have been tightened, giving sanctioning officers full authority on approval even with a medical certificate.
