Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Finance Department has issued a major update to Child Care Leave (CCL) rules, bringing a significant change for women government employees. Until now, employees were entitled to 730 days (two years) of fully paid Child Care Leave. However, as per the new gazette notification, salary deductions will now be applied during the second year of CCL.

According to the revised rules, the government will continue to provide 100% salary for the first 365 days of Child Care Leave. But for the remaining 365 days, employees will receive only 80% of their salary, whether the leave is taken at once or in multiple parts. The Finance Department stated that this modification aims to streamline leave benefits while maintaining administrative efficiency.

Child Care Leave is granted to women employees for the care and upbringing of their children. Earlier, both years of CCL were fully paid, and no salary reduction was implemented at any stage. With the introduction of the new provision, the financial impact on employees taking extended leave will be noticeable.

The government has confirmed that the updated Child Care Leave rules will be implemented from January 2026, giving employees time to prepare for the revised structure.
