A tragic Mumbai bus accident claimed four lives late Monday night in the Bhandup West area. A BEST bus ran over several pedestrians on Station Road around 10 pm, triggering panic at the spot. The victims included three women. Nine others suffered injuries and remain under treatment at nearby hospitals.
Mumbai Police confirmed that the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the fatal incident. Emergency teams rushed to the scene immediately. Officials from the fire brigade, local police, BEST staff, and ambulance services coordinated rescue operations. Authorities shifted the injured victims to hospitals without delay.
Joint Commissioner of Police Satyanarayan Choudhary said senior officers reached the location and launched a detailed investigation. Zone 7 DCP Hemraj Singh Rajput confirmed that police detained the driver for questioning. Officials continue to verify the exact cause behind the accident.
The incident has revived memories of the deadly Kurla BEST bus crash that occurred last year. In that case, an electric bus rammed into pedestrians and vehicles, killing nine people and injuring dozens.
The latest Mumbai bus accident has once again raised concerns over public transport safety. Citizens have demanded stricter monitoring and accountability to prevent such tragedies in crowded urban areas.
