Musk Bezos AI Rivalry Intensifies

Musk Bezos

Elon Musk has taken another swipe at Jeff Bezos, calling him a “copycat” after the Amazon founder announced his new AI platform. Musk reacted on X with, “Haha no way,” and added a laughing emoji. He then posted the word “copy” with a cat emoji to sharpen the dig.

Musk has used the same insult before. He first said it when Bezos revealed plans for satellite internet to challenge SpaceX. He used it again when Amazon bought Zoox to enter the self-driving car race. Their rivalry has stretched from rockets to robots and now to artificial intelligence.

Bezos’s new venture, Project Prometheus, marks his biggest operational move since leaving the Amazon CEO role four years ago. He will run the company with Vik Bajaj, a former Google X scientist who worked closely with Sergey Brin. Bajaj also co-founded Verily and Foresite Labs.

Project Prometheus has raised $6.2 billion, with Bezos contributing a large share. It stands among the richest early-stage startups in the world, according to the New York Times. The company plans to build AI tools for engineering and manufacturing across sectors like aerospace, computers and automobiles. Prometheus has already hired nearly 100 people, including top researchers from OpenAI, DeepMind and Meta.
