Naidu Slams Jagan Over Amaravati, Cites River-Based Civilisations

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday launched a sharp attack on YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, asking him to study how great civilisations across the world flourished along rivers. Mr. Naidu alleged that Mr. Jagan lacked even basic understanding of geographical concepts, claiming that he did not know the difference between a river bed and a river basin.
Addressing the media in Vijayawada, the Chief Minister accused the former Chief Minister of carrying out “vicious and misleading propaganda” against Amaravati, the capital city project. He said the YSRCP leadership was deliberately spreading confusion to derail development and weaken public confidence in Amaravati.
Mr. Naidu asserted that river-based civilisations had historically driven economic growth, culture, and sustainable urban planning, and Amaravati was envisioned on similar principles. He maintained that his government was committed to planned development, environmental balance, and long-term prosperity for Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister reiterated that baseless criticism would not deter the government from pursuing its vision for Amaravati as a world-class capital city.
