The Nalanda gang rape attempt case in Bihar has led to major police action, with 10 people arrested so far, including a woman. The shocking incident took place in a village under Noorsarai police station in Nalanda district and sparked outrage after a video of the assault spread on social media.
According to police, the victim had gone out to buy ration when several men allegedly grabbed her and tried to sexually assault her in public. They pushed her to the ground, touched her inappropriately, and tore her clothes while attempting to take her away. Locals intervened in time and helped stop the crime.
Investigators have seized several mobile phones and sent them for forensic examination. Police also registered a case against people who circulated the video online, saying it revealed the victim’s identity.
The Nalanda gang rape attempt case also drew political attention. Member of Parliament Pappu Yadav visited the victim’s village, met her family, and provided financial assistance of ₹50,000 while demanding strict punishment for the accused.
