NCB Busts ₹50 Crore Drug Racket at Bengaluru Airport, 3 Arrested
In a major crackdown, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized drugs worth ₹50 crore at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport and arrested three individuals. According to officials, the contraband originated in Thailand, was routed through Sri Lanka, and was intended for distribution in India. The NCB’s Bengaluru unit revealed that the drugs were cleverly concealed in around 250 food tins, all vacuum-sealed to avoid detection during customs screening. The operation was based on specific intelligence inputs and highlights the growing use of international courier and air cargo routes for drug trafficking. The arrested individuals are suspected to be part of a larger transnational drug network. Officials are now investigating the supply chain and possible connections within the country. The bust underscores the NCB’s intensified focus on international trafficking routes and the use of sophisticated concealment methods by smugglers to bypass security checks at airports.
