NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak: CBI Registers Case, Probe Begins

NEET UG 2026 paper leak investigation

The NEET UG 2026 paper leak has created nationwide concern among students and parents. Authorities started a major investigation after reports claimed the question paper leaked before the exam.

The NEET UG 2026 paper leak pushed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register a case after receiving a complaint from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education. Officials booked the case under sections related to criminal conspiracy, cheating, and destruction of evidence.

The National Testing Agency conducted the NEET-UG exam on May 3 at thousands of centres across India. Around 22 lakh students appeared for the medical entrance test this year. However, allegations of a leaked question paper forced authorities to cancel the exam to protect the credibility of the national examination system.

CBI officials have formed special investigation teams and started collecting evidence from different states. Investigators are also questioning suspects linked to the case.

Meanwhile, the NTA announced that it will conduct the exam again soon. Officials also said students will not need to pay any additional fee for the re-examination.
