The Nepal PM KP Oli resigns amid Gen Z protest unrest after violent demonstrations shook the Himalayan nation. His resignation came on Tuesday, two days after massive anti-corruption protests killed 19 people and injured more than 100.

Oli’s aide confirmed to Reuters that the Prime Minister stepped down. Visuals showed Oli leaving Kathmandu in a military helicopter. Earlier in the day, he met with leaders of all political parties and said violence was not in the nation’s interest.

The Nepal PM KP Oli resigns amid Gen Z protest unrest was the protesters’ main demand. Young demonstrators stormed Parliament, government offices, and even the private homes of Oli and President Ram Chandra Poudel. Protesters set buildings, vehicles, and parts of Singha Durbar on fire, creating a war-like scene in Kathmandu.

Protesters, calling themselves “Gen Z warriors,” demanded an end to corruption, nepotism, and a rollback of the social media ban. Placards carried messages like “Stop corruption, not social media” and “Unban Facebook and YouTube.”

Flights were canceled at Tribhuvan International Airport due to smoke, while Indian carriers diverted planes. With police unable to control the situation, the Army stepped in. The future of Nepal’s government now hangs in the balance.
