Tamil Nadu politics saw a major development after Congress Supports Thalapathy Vijay in the race to form the government. Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), became the largest party in the state assembly elections.
TVK won 108 seats in the 234-member assembly. However, the party still needs 10 more seats to reach the majority mark of 118.
Because of this situation, Congress Supports Thalapathy Vijay and plans to back his party in government formation. Congress leaders are expected to confirm the decision soon.
The Congress party has five MLAs in the assembly. Their support could help Vijay move closer to forming the government. TVK leaders are also speaking with other parties and independent MLAs.
Meanwhile, Vijay shifted his party MLAs to a resort near Mahabalipuram. The move aims to keep the MLAs together during political talks.
If the numbers work out, Vijay may soon become the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
