The Nitish Kumar Rajya Sabha move has intensified political tensions in Bihar. Congress leaders have strongly criticised the BJP after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar filed his nomination for a Rajya Sabha seat. They claim the Nitish Kumar Rajya Sabha move is part of a political strategy to push him away from active state politics.
Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram said BJP leaders, along with some members of the Janata Dal (United), pressured Nitish Kumar to step aside despite the public mandate in his name. According to him, voters supported the government mainly because of Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
He called the development a betrayal of the people’s mandate and said the decision shows political manipulation. The Congress leader also warned that the BJP may weaken or even dismantle JD(U) in the future to strengthen its control in Bihar.
Nitish Kumar filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha on Thursday in the presence of senior leaders, including Amit Shah. The move has triggered strong reactions across Bihar’s political circles.
