Aurangabad, Bihar: A sudden NTPC Aurangabad fire broke out at the NTPC Nabinagar Power Plant, creating panic among employees and nearby residents. The NTPC Aurangabad fire started on Friday afternoon during routine maintenance work at the plant.
The blaze erupted near the CT-1B cooling tower area. Flames spread quickly due to cables and other flammable materials kept nearby. Thick smoke rose high, which alarmed workers inside the facility.
Plant staff acted fast and raised the alarm. Employees were moved to safe locations within minutes. No injuries or deaths were reported, which brought relief to officials and families.
Firefighters, along with CISF personnel, reached the spot quickly. Five fire engines were used to control the flames. The fire was brought under control after nearly one hour of effort.
Initial reports suggest that the incident may have caused damage worth several crores of rupees. Engineers are checking the affected structures to assess the exact loss.
Officials believe sparks from welding work may have triggered the fire. A detailed inquiry has been ordered to confirm the cause.
Operations at the plant are being reviewed, and safety checks have been tightened to avoid such incidents in the future.
