Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said Kashmiris were being unfairly singled out following the November 10 Red Fort blast in Delhi. His remarks came after Dr Umar-un-Nabi, a 28-year-old doctor from Pulwama and an assistant professor at Haryana’s Al-Falah University, was identified as the suspected suicide bomber.
Abdullah said a narrative was being built that all Kashmiris were responsible. He added that even driving a vehicle with a J&K registration number in Delhi “feels like a crime,” noting that he now hesitates to move without security due to possible questioning.
Two others linked to the case — Dr Muzzamil Shakeel and Dr Shaheen Shahid — were arrested with arms, explosives, and ammunition, further intensifying scrutiny of individuals from J&K.
The blast investigation has widened after eight people were arrested hours before the attack, and authorities seized 2,900 kg of explosives. Police described the network as a “white-collar terror module” spanning Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, reportedly connected to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
