Op Sindoor reflects Guru Tegh Bahadur’s legacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said Operation Sindoor reflects the bravery and sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The Guru considered the protection of truth, justice, and faith as his dharma. Modi emphasized that his life continues to inspire generations to stand against injustice.

Addressing a special programme in Kurukshetra to mark the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of the ninth Sikh Guru, the PM said revered figures like Guru Tegh Bahadur are rare in history. “His life, character, and sacrifice in resisting Mughal oppression remain a guiding light for our nation,” he added. Moreover, Modi highlighted that the government will continue to honour the Guru tradition with full commitment.

Modi described his day as a confluence of India’s heritage. He visited ‘Ramayan ki Nagri’ Ayodhya in the morning to hoist the Dharma Dhwaja atop the Ram Temple. Later, he reached ‘Gita ki Nagri’ Kurukshetra in the evening. There, he inaugurated the ‘Panchjanya’ memorial for Lord Krishna’s conch and visited the immersive Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra. He also joined the Maha Aarti at Brahma Sarovar during the International Gita Mahotsav.

The PM released a commemorative coin, stamp, and coffee table book marking Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom. He urged citizens to fight drug abuse by following the path of truth and courage shown by the Guru. “Just as Lord Krishna defended dharma during the Mahabharata, Guru Tegh Bahadur laid down his life to uphold truth and justice. Operation Sindoor continues that legacy,” he added.

The event was attended by Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, CM Nayab Singh Saini, Union Ministers, state ministers, MPs, and MLAs.
