Orange Alert for Fog in Bihar as Cold Tightens Grip

Orange Alert for Fog in Bihar with dense fog reducing visibility on roads

An Orange Alert for Fog in Bihar has been issued by the Meteorological Department as cold conditions continue to worsen across the state. Dense fog has covered large parts of north and south Bihar, leading to very low visibility during early morning and late-night hours. The Orange Alert for Fog in Bihar highlights the risk to road and rail travel as winter conditions intensify.

Several districts, including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, and Purnea, reported thick fog on Monday morning. In many areas, visibility dropped sharply, causing delays in train services and difficulties for daily commuters. Roads remained risky, especially on highways and open stretches.

Temperatures have also fallen further. Minimum temperatures stayed below normal in many districts, increasing the feeling of cold. Cold winds from the north have added to the chill, making mornings and nights harsher for residents.

Weather officials said foggy conditions are likely to continue over the next few days. They advised people to avoid unnecessary travel during early hours. Drivers should use fog lights and maintain safe speeds. Elderly people and children were advised to stay warm.

The department expects no immediate relief, though a slight rise in temperature may occur later this week.
