Over 91,000 Fake Antacid Sachets Seized as Illegal Manufacturing Unit Raided in Delhi
A counterfeit antacid manufacturing unit was busted in Delhi, leading to the seizure of over 91,000 fake sachets, officials said on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the Delhi Police and the Drugs Control Department raided a facility in the city’s industrial area, where spurious medicines resembling popular antacid brands were being produced and packaged. Preliminary investigations revealed that the fake products were being supplied to local markets and possibly distributed to nearby states. Authorities have arrested the unit’s operator and seized raw materials, packaging machines, and labels used for counterfeiting. Samples have been sent for laboratory testing to assess potential health risks. Officials warned that such counterfeit medicines pose serious dangers to public health and said further raids are planned to trace the wider supply network and identify those involved in the illegal operation.
