Paid Leave Delhi By-Elections move by the Haryana Government aims to support voters who live in Haryana but vote in Delhi. The state announced that employees working in government offices, educational institutions, boards, and corporations will receive paid leave on November 30. This step ensures that every registered voter gets enough time to participate in the Delhi MC by-elections. The Paid Leave Delhi By-Elections decision also highlights the state’s commitment to strengthening democratic participation.
Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi issued the notification. He clarified that the leave falls under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. These legal provisions give employees the right to take time off for voting.
Moreover, the government extended the benefit to employees working in factories, shops, and private establishments across Haryana. As a result, all Delhi-registered voters employed in the state can cast their votes without difficulty. This decision aims to remove travel pressure and encourage higher turnout in the municipal by-elections.
The government believes that strong voter participation strengthens civic bodies. Therefore, it created a smooth and supportive environment for every eligible voter travelling to Delhi on polling day.
