At least 15 people were killed and several others injured after a boiler exploded at a chemical factory in Malikpur, Faisalabad, on Friday morning. The powerful blast caused nearby structures, including a factory building, to collapse. Rescue teams recovered 15 bodies and shifted seven injured individuals to a hospital, with officials fearing more people may still be trapped.
Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar said large-scale rescue operations are underway as teams work to clear debris. Punjab’s police chief Dr. Usman Anwar has directed Rescue 1122, fire brigade, and other agencies to provide full support.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep grief over the incident and extended condolences to affected families. She also sought a detailed report from the Faisalabad Commissioner.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the blast and intensified safety inspections at other chemical factories. The tragedy has renewed concerns over industrial safety in the region, which has witnessed similar accidents in recent years.
