Punjab’s Counter Intelligence team in Amritsar has busted a major Pakistan-linked cross-border drug trafficking network. Police arrested one accused and recovered 5 kg of heroin from his possession. According to officials, the accused was acting on direct instructions from a Pakistan-based handler who guided him on receiving and transporting the drug consignment from the border area.
Initial investigation reveals that the accused had picked up the heroin from a pre-decided location and was preparing it for further distribution. Police have registered an FIR under the NDPS Act at the SSOC Police Station and launched a detailed probe to identify the full network and its members.
Punjab Police stated that they will continue their strict crackdown on narcotics and aim to dismantle every link of cross-border smuggling operations.
Earlier this week, Punjab Police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force also busted another trafficking module, seizing 5.084 kg heroin, 1.681 kg crystal meth, ₹6.5 lakh cash, and arresting one trafficker involved in the supply chain.
