Security agencies are on high alert after investigations revealed that Pakistan is using Rajasthan’s border districts as a major route to smuggle weapons via drones. Interrogation of three terrorists arrested by Gujarat ATS revealed that arms consignments were being delivered through Hanumangarh, directly sent from Pakistan.
Earlier, drones were used mainly for drug trafficking, but agencies now say Pakistan is sending weapons, fake currency and even explosives into Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh. Gangsters in Rajasthan are also accessing these foreign weapons through the same network. In the GogaMedi murder case, Chinese and Turkish-made arms were used, and Anmol Bishnoi admitted during NIA questioning that weapons were procured via Pakistan-backed drones.
Illegal arms recovery has surged in Rajasthan, with over 300 foreign and prohibited weapons seized in just 10 months of 2025. This includes AK-47s and high-calibre pistols from Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh and Dholpur.
Intelligence inputs indicate Pakistan has expanded drone smuggling from only drugs to a four-tier network involving drugs, weapons, fake currency and explosive
