The Panchayat Secretary Strike began in Bihar on Wednesday as secretaries stopped work to protest unmet demands.
Under the call of the Bihar State Panchayat Secretary Association, secretaries launched an indefinite strike over issues like transfers to home districts, increased grade pay, travel allowances, and promotion rules.
The Panchayat Secretary Strike has disrupted basic services across villages to regional offices. Birth and death certificates, pension processing, and ration card work have all slowed.
In West Champaran, all secretaries quit work, saying the government has ignored their concerns. Officials said services had already been affected by a long revenue staff strike.
Protesting secretaries said they will continue the strike until action is taken. Some former secretaries and service staff are not participating.
