The Patna businessman extortion case has created fear in Chitragupta Nagar, Bihar. A battery dealer received threatening calls from a man pretending to be an MLA. The caller demanded a ransom of ₹2 crore. The Patna businessman extortion case began on November 16th, when the first call came to Surendra Kumar Sinha’s mobile phone. He disconnected the call, thinking it was a wrong number.
On November 22nd, the same number called again. This time, the trader’s wife answered the phone. The caller warned that he would kidnap Surendra Sinha’s son if the money wasn’t paid. The threats increased the next day. The caller introduced himself as Sumit Singh and targeted Ashish Srivastava directly. He said that the family must pay if they plan to build a mall near Saguna Mod.
Ashish tried to explain that he only dealt in batteries and spare parts. He said he could not arrange such a huge amount. The caller ignored his words and continued to threaten him. Ashish filed a police complaint. Officers started an investigation and are tracking the number. The family hopes the police will catch the caller soon and end the fear.
