Patna police in Trouble Over ₹20 Lakh Seizure Scam

Patna police Sub-Inspector accused of misappropriating ₹17.5 lakh from seized ₹20 lakh during vehicle checking.

Patna police’s vehicle checking drive turned controversial after allegations of misappropriation in a cash seizure. Around ₹20 lakh was reportedly recovered, but Sub-Inspector Izhar Ali allegedly declared only ₹2.5 lakh. He is accused of siphoning off nearly ₹17.5 lakh from the seized cash.

The incident occurred under Gandhi Maidan police station limits. According to reports, the money was recovered from Kishore Raut, a resident of Budhha Colony, near J.P. Golambar. Instead of reporting the full amount, the Sub-Inspector allegedly manipulated records and had Raut sign a plain statement declaring he had only ₹2.5 lakh. This sum was returned, and he was released.

When higher officials learned of the irregularities, they intervened. SSP Kartikeya Sharma suspended the officer late Tuesday night. Investigations are ongoing to confirm whether the seized cash was indeed ₹20 lakh.

Authorities are verifying all details, and if the allegations are confirmed, an FIR will be filed against the Sub-Inspector. The case has sparked serious questions about accountability and transparency within the police force.
