Pawan Kalyan Moves Court Over Personality Rights

Pawan Kalyan personality rights petition in Delhi High Court challenges misuse of his identity on social and e-commerce platforms.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights. He stated that several individuals were posting content on social media that damaged his reputation. Moreover, his counsel informed the court that many such posts were circulating on e-commerce platforms as well. Pawan Kalyan requested strict action against these unauthorised activities.

The court heard the petition today and issued key directions. It ordered the removal of all objectionable links within seven days. Additionally, it instructed Pawan Kalyan’s legal team to submit the URLs of the disputed posts to the concerned social media companies within 48 hours. The court then adjourned the case to December 22 for the next hearing.

Several top Telugu actors recently filed similar petitions. Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Jr NTR approached the High Court earlier, seeking protection for their names and likeness. Their concerns mainly involved unauthorised use of their identity through AI-generated images and misleading online content.

Furthermore, many Bollywood celebrities, including Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, raised comparable issues in the past. They argued that their images and names were being misused for commercial gain without consent. Hence, more celebrities are turning to courts to safeguard their digital identity.
