Pawan Kalyan warns of zero tolerance against threats to officials, contractors

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Friday issued a strong warning against individuals issuing threats to contractors and bureaucrats in Andhra Pradesh, asserting that the government would adopt a zero tolerance approach to such intimidation. Speaking at a public meeting in Peravali, he said attempts to obstruct development projects through fear tactics would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Referring to YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s reported statement that private partners involved in running medical colleges under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode would be sent to jail if he returned to power, Mr. Kalyan termed such remarks irresponsible and damaging to investor confidence.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the present government was committed to protecting officials, contractors and investors who were working within the law. He warned that strict action would be taken against those indulging in threats or coercion, adding that the approach would be similar to the firm stance adopted by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath against criminals.
