PM Awas Given to Minors in Bihar, CAG Flags Housing and Transport Irregularities

PM Awas given to minors in Bihar highlighted in CAG report

The PM Awas given to minors in Bihar issue has surfaced in the latest report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). The report says PM Awas given to minors in Bihar violated scheme rules because children are not eligible beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. Officials approved houses in the names of minors even though their parents were alive. Authorities released around ₹2.5 lakh to these ineligible beneficiaries.

The audit also found that 21 families in four districts received houses despite already owning permanent homes. Officials paid more than ₹24 lakh to these beneficiaries. The scheme clearly bars such approvals.

The report was presented in the Bihar Assembly. It further highlighted heavy revenue losses in the transport department. Errors in vehicle registration records, weak monitoring, and poor software management caused losses worth crores of rupees. The CAG urged stricter checks and accountability.
