Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan released the 21st instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme for farmers on Friday. He prioritised Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand farmers affected by recent floods and landslides.
The government transferred over Rs 540 crore directly to the bank accounts of more than 27 lakh farmers, including 2.7 lakh women. This financial support will help them recover from crop losses.
Chouhan said the Rs 2,000 instalment will help farmers meet household needs, buy seeds and fertilisers, and resume cultivation. He assured that the government supports every farmer and leaves no one behind.
The minister also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to flood-hit areas. He highlighted the additional relief measures. PM-KISAN disbursements to these three states have now exceeded Rs 13,626 crore since February 2019.
