PM Modi Begins Two-Day Visit to Bhutan to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhutan on Monday for a two-day official visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in key sectors. He was received at Paro International Airport by Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, who warmly welcomed him, saying on X (formerly Twitter), “I join the entire nation in welcoming my elder brother, Prime Minister @narendramodi, to Bhutan.” During his visit, Modi is scheduled to meet King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck, the Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and hold talks with the Bhutanese leadership on trade, energy, connectivity, and cultural exchanges. The visit underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its close partnership with Bhutan, a key ally in the region. Officials said several agreements are expected to be signed, further enhancing collaboration under the India-Bhutan development partnership. Modi’s visit reflects New Delhi’s continued focus on fostering strong neighborhood ties.
