PM Modi congratulates Sushila Karki on becoming Nepal’s interim Prime Minister, marking a historic moment for the Himalayan nation. Speaking at Kangla Fort in Imphal during his first visit to Manipur in two years, the Indian Prime Minister praised Nepal’s democratic spirit and highlighted the strong ties between the two countries.
“Nepal, in the lap of the Himalayas, is our close friend. On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I congratulate Sushila Karki on becoming Nepal’s first woman Prime Minister,” Modi said. He added that her appointment reflects women empowerment and expressed hope for peace, stability, and prosperity in Nepal.
PM Modi congratulates Sushila Karki not only as a political leader but also as a symbol of Nepal’s democratic resurgence. He appreciated Nepal’s youth, who recently cleaned streets after mass Gen-Z protests toppled the KP Oli government.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister also sent wishes on X, assuring that India will continue to support Nepal’s peace and development. The Indian External Affairs Ministry echoed the same, welcoming the interim government and pledging close cooperation.
Karki, backed by Gen-Z protesters, assumed office after days of unrest. She now aims to restore order, hold elections, and guide Nepal toward stability.
