Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the life and sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur continue to inspire the nation. He emphasised that the teachings of the Sikh Gurus shape India’s values, culture and spirit. PM Modi Guru Tegh Bahadur Inspiration remained the central message as he addressed the gathering at the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of the revered Guru.
PM Modi said Guru Tegh Bahadur defended truth, justice and faith with unmatched courage. He added that the Guru considered the protection of dharma his sacred duty. Modi also called the day a “wonderful confluence of India’s heritage”, recalling that he visited Ayodhya earlier and reached Kurukshetra for the commemoration.
He noted that the Guru’s stand against forced conversions in the Mughal era shows rare bravery. Modi said Guru Sahib chose sacrifice so that people could live with freedom of faith. He also remembered how historic moments connected in the past, such as the 2019 Ram Temple verdict coinciding with his visit to Dera Baba Nanak.
During the event, PM Modi released a commemorative stamp and coin. He also inaugurated the Panchjanya memorial and visited the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra. He said Kurukshetra holds deep Sikh heritage, as Guru Tegh Bahadur left a lasting spiritual impression on this sacred land.
