PM Modi Holds Grand Roadshow in Varanasi, Hosts Mauritius PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading a grand roadshow in Varanasi, greeted by huge crowds, with decorations and security along the route.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday led a vibrant roadshow in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency. Thousands of supporters lined the streets to cheer him as the two-kilometer procession moved from Police Lines grounds to Hotel Taj. The city turned festive with flower petals, saffron flags, and chants echoing along the route.

Six welcome points were arranged at major crossings, including Kutchehri, Varunapul, Bhimrao Ambedkar Park, and Vivekananda. Party workers, senior BJP leaders, and local residents waved flags and showered rose petals on the Prime Minister’s convoy, creating an energetic and colorful scene.

Varanasi received a massive facelift before the roadshow. Workers repaired roads, painted walls, installed decorative lights, and cleared overhead cables to give the city a fresh look. Civic staff worked for several days to prepare for the Prime Minister’s arrival.

Security was tightened across the city, with heavy police deployment to manage crowds and ensure smooth traffic. Police detained several Congress leaders, including UP Congress chief Ajay Rai, to prevent protests during the roadshow.

The roadshow also carried international significance. Modi hosted Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, who joined him in Varanasi for talks on culture, trade, and shared heritage.
