PM Modi Inaugurates India’s First Fully Digital Airport in Navi Mumbai

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase 1 of the newly built Navi Mumbai International Airport, marking a historic milestone as India’s first fully digital airport. Constructed over an area of 1,160 hectares at a cost of ₹19,650 crore, the airport is designed with state-of-the-art digital infrastructure to enhance efficiency and passenger convenience.

Once fully operational, it will handle up to 90 million passengers annually, significantly easing air traffic congestion in the Mumbai region. The project is a joint venture between Adani Airports Holdings Limited, which holds a 74% stake, and the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) with 26%.

The airport features advanced automation, biometric boarding, and seamless digital check-in systems, setting a new benchmark for smart aviation infrastructure in India. The inauguration highlights the government’s commitment to modernizing transport facilities and strengthening India’s aviation network.
