Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana on Friday at 11 a.m. via video call. He will transfer Rs 10,000 directly into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women. The total disbursal in this first phase will reach Rs 7,500 crore.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the scheme to make women self-reliant. Each family in Bihar can nominate one woman to start income-generating activities. The scheme promotes self-employment and rural livelihoods.
Each beneficiary will receive an initial grant of Rs 10,000. After six months, officials will assess progress. Women can receive up to Rs 2 lakh as additional financial assistance. Self-help group trainers will teach skills and business management.
Authorities will upgrade gramin haat-bazaars to help women sell their products. Officials see the initiative as empowering women voters and supporting rural livelihoods. The scheme comes ahead of Bihar Assembly elections, where the NDA faces tough competition.
