Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on Monday to inaugurate several infrastructure projects. Foundation stones for multiple initiatives worth over Rs 5,100 crore will be laid in Itanagar. Among these, two major hydroelectric projects will be introduced to boost energy generation.
In Arunachal Pradesh, the Heo Hydro Electric Project (240 MW) and Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW) will be virtually inaugurated. Both projects, developed by NEEPCO in partnership with the state government, are expected to be commissioned soon. Together, they aim to generate about 1,803 MUs annually.
Following his engagements, the Prime Minister will travel to Tripura to visit the historic Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur. Development works at the temple complex will be inaugurated, and religious rituals performed. No public address is scheduled. The 45-minute program will highlight the temple’s cultural and spiritual significance.
These initiatives are expected to create employment opportunities and promote sustainable energy in the region. By harnessing Arunachal Pradesh’s hydro potential, the projects will strengthen India’s clean energy goals. NEEPCO, a Mini Ratna Category-I PSU, has been pivotal in developing power infrastructure in the Northeast since 1976.
