Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 75th birthday on Friday by planting a Kadamb sapling at his official residence. The sapling was a personal gift from Britain’s King Charles III.
The British High Commission in India said the gift was inspired by Modi’s initiative Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam. The campaign urges people to plant a tree in memory of their mothers.
An official video showed Modi watering the sapling at his residence. The act symbolised friendship between India and the UK and their shared commitment to protecting the environment.
The gift also reflected King Charles III’s long-standing focus on climate issues. Modi, too, has encouraged Indians to plant trees as part of sustainable living.
Officials noted that the gesture connected personal celebration with global responsibility. The planting highlighted India’s efforts for environmental conservation while deepening ties with the United Kingdom.
Through this symbolic act, Modi reinforced his message that even small steps, like planting a tree, can contribute to a greener future.
