Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Ayodhya today to ceremonially hoist a saffron ‘Dharma Dhwaj’ atop the 191-foot shikhar of the newly constructed Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, marking a historic milestone in the temple’s completion. The day is culturally significant as it coincides with Ram Vivah, celebrated as the wedding day of Lord Ram. Ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, Ayodhya has been placed under an extensive security blanket, with 6,970 personnel—including ATS commandos, NSG snipers, cyber experts and technical teams—deployed across the city. Security has also been tightened along the India-Nepal border, involving UP Police, SSB, ITBP and local intelligence units. The temple will remain closed to visitors until 2:30 PM due to the movement of dignitaries and security forces. The administration has invited around 6,000 guests, including over 500 seers, religious leaders, dignitaries and residents from eastern Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi’s itinerary includes visits to Saptmandir, Sheshavtar Mandir, Mata Annapurna Mandir and darshan at Ram Lalla Garbha Grah before the noon flag-hoisting ceremony. The Dharma Dhwaj carries sacred symbols—Om, the Sun and the Kovidara tree—representing Sanatan heritage. PM Modi will also address the gathering, marking a momentous chapter in India’s socio-cultural and spiritual landscape.
