Population Management Policy to Be Introduced by Ugadi: Naidu
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday announced that the Andhra Pradesh government would introduce a comprehensive Population Management Policy by Ugadi. Addressing a public meeting in Vijayawada, he said the policy would focus on balancing population growth with economic development, resource management and social welfare. The Chief Minister noted that unchecked population trends could have long-term consequences on employment, healthcare and education.
Mr. Naidu also announced the formation of a Cabinet Sub-Committee to deal with malicious propaganda and the misuse of social media platforms. He said fake accounts were increasingly being used for character assassination, spreading misinformation and damaging public trust. The proposed committee would study the issue in detail and recommend legal and administrative measures to curb such practices.
Emphasising responsible governance, Mr. Naidu said the government was committed to protecting democratic values while ensuring accountability in digital spaces. He added that policies would be framed after consultations with experts, officials and stakeholders to ensure transparency and public interest.
