The Bihar Assembly elections are creating a buzz, and the spotlight is on Prashant Kishor’s electoral debut. His party, Jansuraj, has toured the entire state and will release its first list of candidates on October 9. Kishor claims this list will surprise everyone and change all political equations in Bihar.
The big question is—whose career will suffer due to Prashant Kishor’s electoral debut? With strong grassroots support, Kishor is confident of contesting independently, without joining any alliance. In the 2020 elections, alliances captured 72% of votes, but experts believe Kishor could shift a significant portion this time.
He predicts his party could capture up to 20% of the vote, combining with others to create a powerful third front. Kishor even said this might be Nitish Kumar’s last election. However, one challenge for him is Bihar’s high polarization. BJP-minded voters may fear an RJD win, while Grand Alliance supporters may avoid the BJP. Kishor, however, wants to move politics beyond caste and religion toward development.
