The family of former President Pratibha Patil has accused Maharashtra Minister Jaykumar Rawal of illegally occupying their ancestral land in Shirpur, Dhule district. They said Rawal continues to occupy the 33-acre farmland despite a court ruling in their favour.
Pratibha Patil’s brother and nephew stated that Rawal had filed a legal claim, but the court rejected it. They allege that Rawal and his supporters refused to leave the land, ignoring the court order.
Uday Patil, the former President’s nephew, said that when they tried to take possession, Rawal’s loyalists blocked them. He added that the minister uses local goons to intimidate the family. Police, he claimed, did not act on their complaints.
The Patil family demanded higher authorities intervene to enforce the court order and restore possession. Minister Jaykumar Rawal has not responded. The case has drawn public attention because it involves a former President’s family.
