Prince Harry London Media Trial Begins This Week

Prince Harry will return to London this week for a major court trial against a UK newspaper group. The case will begin on Monday at the High Court. The proceedings could last up to nine weeks. This trial marks the final case in his long campaign against the British press.

Harry has often criticised the media. He has blamed press intrusion for the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997. He and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020. They later moved to California, citing intense media pressure.

The current case targets Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday. Harry and other public figures allege unlawful data gathering. The claims include phone tapping, impersonation, and use of private investigators. The company has denied all accusations.

Harry previously settled a separate case against News Group Newspapers. The firm issued a public apology and agreed to pay damages. In another case, the High Court ruled in 2023 that Mirror Group Newspapers hacked Harry’s phone. The court awarded him more than £140,000 in damages.

Legal experts say the upcoming trial could shape future media accountability in the United Kingdom.
