Private Sector Growth in Defence and Aerospace
Private sector participation in India’s defence and aerospace industries is steadily increasing, driven by expanding opportunities in both traditional and emerging aviation segments. Speaking at an event in Hyderabad, the Chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) highlighted how new avenues such as air taxis, air ambulances, and advanced mobility solutions are attracting private companies, boosting innovation and investment.
He noted that the aviation sector is undergoing rapid transformation, creating a surge in demand for skilled professionals. As a result, several new job roles are emerging across aircraft maintenance, unmanned aerial systems, defence manufacturing, avionics, and aerospace engineering.
To meet these industry requirements, the Chairman stressed the need for educational institutions to redesign and introduce updated courses that align with evolving market needs. He emphasised that close collaboration between academia, industry, and government will be crucial to strengthening India’s aerospace ecosystem.
