Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “hiding behind” Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. She called the claim that Opposition members were planning to harm the PM “an absolute lie.”
This comes after Speaker Birla said he had asked the PM not to come to the House because he had information that some Congress MPs might carry out an “unexpected act” near his seat. Congress strongly denied any such threat and said the PM is using the Speaker’s statement as an excuse to avoid attending the House.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra emphasized that Congress has always followed parliamentary rules and would never threaten anyone. The Speaker had suggested the PM stay away for the day to maintain safety and order in the House.
The incident has led to a political dispute, with Congress accusing the government of creating unnecessary tension in Parliament while the government defended the Speaker’s concerns.
