Punjab AG Maninderjit Singh Bedi Designated Senior Advocate after the Punjab and Haryana High Court approved his elevation on Friday. The decision, issued through an official notification by the Registrar General, marks an important milestone in Bedi’s legal career. The court granted him senior status with immediate effect from the date of the notification. Bedi has served as an advocate since 2005, registered under Enrolment No. P-834/2005, and currently guides major legal matters for the state.
Along with the elevated status, the High Court has also directed Bedi to take up ten pro bono cases every year under the Free Legal Aid category. The mandate aims to strengthen access to justice for economically weaker sections and encourage senior advocates to contribute directly to public welfare.
Legal experts view the High Court’s decision as recognition of Bedi’s competence, professional integrity, and consistent performance in high-stakes cases. His senior designation is also expected to enhance the representation of Punjab in major legal proceedings.
