Punjab Police has ramped up security across the state ahead of the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections scheduled for December 14. DGP Gaurav Yadav affirmed that the force is fully prepared to ensure transparent, impartial and peaceful polling. He instructed all officers to maintain a positive atmosphere and strictly adhere to professional policing standards and the Model Code of Conduct.

Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla chaired a virtual meeting with CPs, SSPs and Range DIGs, directing them to mobilise at least 75% of district police personnel for election duty. Security has been strengthened with strict surveillance of anti-social elements, regular flag marches, and robust inter-state and inter-district checkpoints.

Officials confirmed that 18,718 polling booths have been set up at 13,395 polling stations, including 860 highly sensitive and 3,405 sensitive locations. Over 44,000 police personnel will be deployed for smooth polling, supported by continuous patrolling in vulnerable areas.
