Punjab Roadways Bus Service Policy Change: Workers Stop Political Rally Duties

Punjab Roadways bus service policy, PRTC workers protest

The Punjab Roadways/PRTC Contract Workers Union has changed its Punjab Roadways bus service policy. The union said its members will no longer provide buses for political rallies. They will now drive only on daily passenger routes.

Union leaders said the government had ignored their demands for years, despite many promises. They also raised safety concerns after a violent attack in Tarn Taran. A Punjab Roadways bus carrying Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s rally was attacked near Moose village. Eyewitnesses said the attackers stopped the bus and opened fire. A party worker, Satinderpal Singh, was seriously injured.

After this attack, the union decided not to send any vehicle to political events until their issues are resolved. They said workers feel unsafe and will focus on regular public service.

This strong step shows that the workers value safety over politics and want the government to act quickly.
