Punjab Security Alert CASO: Police Launch Statewide Operation

Punjab Police conduct CASO operation after Delhi blast under high security alert

Following the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, security agencies have declared a high alert across Punjab. In response, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, in coordination with Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), launched an extensive ‘CASO’ (Cordon and Search Operation) to strengthen security and prevent any untoward incidents.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, with Joint CP Sandeep Sharma, ADCP Akakshi Jain, and ADCP Harinder Singh Gill present on-site to monitor the search. A total of 300 police personnel were deployed, including anti-riot units and railway security teams, to carry out checks at railway stations, bus stands, religious places, parking areas, shopping malls, and crowded marketplaces.

Authorities said that both City and Cantonment railway stations underwent intensive security screening. Every section, including entry and exit points, platforms, and waiting areas, was checked thoroughly using modern scanning devices. Passenger belongings and vehicles were inspected, and the criminal records of suspicious individuals were verified.

Parking zones and nearby areas were also searched, with vehicle ownership documents verified for authenticity. To ensure continuous vigilance, special checkpoints were set up at key intersections, and on-duty officers were instructed to remain alert around the clock.

Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur urged the public to report any suspicious persons or objects immediately to the control room, emphasizing that citizen cooperation is vital to maintain peace and security.

The CASO operation was part of a broader strategy to maintain law and order and prevent any potential threat following the Delhi incident.
